There he was … a man who had put a mama cat with 5 small kittens in front of our door. You just didn't get a chance to say anything. "I'll drive away and you do what you like with them", he said in English, "I don't want them anymore, that's all. I work, they're too much for me,. My daughter,...", and he raged on, he got angrier and angrier. I tried to explain to him that we really couldn't take more inside. We can't give them what they need, we have too many already and we are so few people. But he continued to roar and threw the cage with kittens on the floor in front of me. When I said in my own language "My God, what are we supposed to do", he said proudly like a watering can: "Oh, I'm Belgian too". Unbelievable, a Belgian. "You can have the cage", he shouted as he left and then speed away in his great latest Range Rover.
There we were again,… Six pairs of frightened eyes looked at us. What will happen to us now? Of course we are looking for a solution once again, but how? Never before have we felt so powerless than in the past few weeks. Their problem was solved and ours started. Mum and little ones can't help this. We have now put wire cages above the cages, and put them there safely, they'll get all the care they need.
What kind of world do we live in? No scruples, nor a little education. There are those days when you can't take it so well anymore.
