Fabienne's diary: Update on our rescued dogs

 Friday, February 19, 2021

They are all safe with us. In the end there were 47 anyway, if you are busy making space you sometimes forget to count correctly, as long as they could all come.  Chance-less guys who are now getting a new future, and not a syringe as if they never existed!

Now that they are with us, their rescue is really starting, because they are all dirty, dirty, full of pests and some of their fur is so terribly matted that they will have to be stripped cm by inch. Each of them needs a haircut! Pelts full of years of misery, neglect, loneliness ...

Many Galgoots whose bodies are full of wounds and scars. All will be seen and taken care of by the vet. They are clearly all discarded hunting dogs.

According to what we hear, a lot of oldies had been there for years, thanks to the volunteers who maintained them and delivered their food, and cleaned them as much as possible. Because how those animals had to survive there was indescribable.

Some of the oldies can hardly walk any more, they have no muscle mass at all due to the years of confinement. These dogs now need gradual, constructive exercise and are already receiving supplements and supportive medication to make their painful joints less painful.

All must be vaccinated, dewormed, deflated and sterilized or neutered.

They are all in their baskets; many of them did not even know what they were for!

We would like to thank everyone for the help, the support, the compassion, ... Know that we have achieved this together and that we will fight for each of them until they can finally come home somewhere and become happy ... it's our common goal !!
