It was a hot Saturday when a woman knocked on the door and wanted to drop us off a mama with kittens. However, we are full to the top, and we don't know which foster family can handle any more. So we asked her to be patient. But we were not thanked for that because when we wanted to go home, the mother was standing with her kittens in a cardboard box in a glass box next to the field of the Refugio. With a thousandth luck, one of our people saw this and they were rescued in the nick of time. They were forced to be housed in an emergency cage, because no one could handle any more. Not just us, but the animals already there…
The following Monday, a Frenchwoman suddenly showed up at the door with two identical kittens. How strange. Found in her garden, so to speak, but with the message that it was the rest of the family of the mother with kittens. It must have been my neighbour, she said. When she was told, one after the other came "hm, uh,…", followed by endless excuses, after her weakly put together story. She denied of course that she had left those poor critters there in 40 degree heat,…
Anyway, to make a long story short: mother and children are doing well, are grateful, and happily far away from the hands of those who dumped them with all possible speed.
