A visit to our Joana, now Bibine.
Do you remember Joana, the brave Mummie, found and collected by ACE with her five pups. Sadly three of them died, weakened by the hardships they had endured. Just Jhon-Jhon and Juanito survived. Joana's story had so struck us, the fear in those eyes was so poignant, the love of that brave mummie for her puppies was so beautiful that we decided to foster her. She stole our hearts. It was the beginning of a beautiful story.
Yesterday evening Jean and I went to visit our our foster dog in her new home, here in Belgium. After she went to her new home we contacted her adoptive mom by mail. We asked her how
Joana was doing and thus we were in regular contact and had news and photos of our former foster dog. And shortly after we received an invitation to come and visit, if we would like to.
Last night we visited. And we could see that our Joana had fallen with her paws in the proverbial butter. Our Joana is now the beloved Bibine of her adopter Veronique, a treasure of a woman with a very warm heart. Bibine has found such a nice and loving home with Veronique. Great to see.
We are so happy and grateful. It's incredibly heartening to see how Bibine relies entirely on Veronique. How she brightens up when Veronique gives her attention. How the fear disappears from her eyes. She is still a bit shy with strangers and you can see that immediately the eyes. Can you blame her that her confidence in people was severely dented after what she had endured with her puppies? Thanks to the love she receives from Veronique that trust is gradually being rebuilt.
We can see with our own eyes how fantastic and playful a dog Bibine has already become, and that feels good. Only the future will tell if she can ever completely leave her past behind but we have absolutely no doubt that she will have every chance in the world with Veronique and that she really has found her golden basket. That also gives us the courage and the desire to foster more dogs. There are so many dogs that deserve a golden basket.
A nice plus, Bibine gets on fantastically well with her little sister dog Lola. She is her big friend. And then there's the black cat as well.
Thanks to ACE - you put your arms around Joana-Bibine with her puppies and have given her the chance for a bright future. Thank you Fabienne and all the volunteers. You are doing a fantastic job. And ... thank you Veronique for adopting Joana and loving her so much.
I hope you will remember this beautiful story. A happy ending. Especially if we keep going. And it's great to know that both Jhon-Jhon and Juanito have each found a home and will soon move into their golden basket.
Greetings Jean, Danielle, Queso (ACE dog), Molly and Babylon
