Indy
Our big bear has left us.
Many years have gone by with our large dog family, with one very large sweetheart, our Masitn, Indy.
She weighed 80 kg and had been saved from the street. A man, who had brought her with her brother from Madrid just put them out on the street and they ended up on the dangerous motorway, where her brother was killed. Our vet, Antonio, managed to save Indy just in time and phoned me. She was 7 months old at the time and since then she became the 'grand dame' of our home. She had a strong character but, for us, she was the sweetest and best dog we could ever imagine. In her younger years she was an example for all our dog. She was such a good dog, a tribute to the breed - that's for sure, sweet darling!
Here, Mastins are living in broom cupboards or in tiny yards, unloved and chained up. The owners have no idea of the effect this has on those poor dogs. They are such sensitive, good souls, who deserve so much better.
Today, she died aged 13. On June the third she had her 13th birthday and we were so proud of our sweet girl. But yesterday things went terribly wrong and she was taken from us.
Indy. She was a tribute to her breed. She was a faithful, sweet dog for 13 years. Our house is so empty without you, sweet darling.
Our whole family and friends know who you were, they were all crazy about you.
We miss your big stately head, your powerful paw on our laps, your faithful look.
You are in our hearts forever but you are no longer with us. It's difficult to accept but it's part of life, no matter how painful.
