Last summer A.C.E. rescued a total of twenty beagles from their miserable existence in breeding factories and in laboratories. Ten of them came from the University of Cordoba, where they were being used for experiments. This is the first time we have been able to rescue them from there; in the past they were always killed when the university had finished with them.
All ten came to us at El Refugio, learnt what life was like in freedom and with love all around them. One by one they found their golden baskets in the various countries where we work. Now, at last, the final three, Mowgly, Ole Ole and Campeona are on their way to forever homes - in America! So far away and rather strange but true.
We are so grateful to the Beagle Freedom Project for making this possible and taking such care of our beagle children. Shannon Keith, their president has been involved from the start. She understands, more than anyone, how much we care about our beagle children. They have themselves recently rescued 40 beagles from laboratories in Barcelona.
It has taken months of preparation – following the correct procedures, organizing the paperwork and passports, completing health checks, getting agreement from the authorities and more. Shannon has done everything possible to ensure they have a safe journey and wonderful homes in and around Los Angeles. We can never thank her enough.
And now they are on their way. It’s a long journey and they’ll be jet lagged but it was definitely worth it. And heartening for all of us – for A.C.E. and for the Beagle Freedom Project. A great example of what you can do when you work together.

Ole Ole
All packed and ready to go! Have happy lives, lovely beagles!
