Would you like a friend for life?
Korneel grew up in the Refugio. It was the only home he knew. So he had no idea how to be in a family, how to behave in different circumstances. Then his luck appeared to change and he found a was adopted in Belgium. Unfortunately this stay was only short-lived, he found it difficult to cope, his character canged and so his owners sent him away and he went to a foster family.
There were other dogs at the foster home and that came as another shock, another change. He was confused at first because he found he was able to do what he wanted to and once more he didn't know how to behave. He was shocked and confused. But he settled down after a couple of days, once he got used to everything and quickly adapted. Now he loves to play with the other dogs in his host family.
He enjoys going for walks, but preferably with a dog harness, as he is inclined to be frightened by loud noises and tends to want to run away when he hears them. He is social towards other dogs and behaves well in the pack. Korneel is not a difficult eater and adores to get some sweets. Once he trusts you, he really is such a dear. He gives you licks and comes to join you on the sofa.
Korneel needs a patient owner with experience, who wants to guide him. For he is now ready for a true forever home - a family who wants to adopt him definitively. A family who will trust him, cuddle him and who will know how to teach him to feel even more self confident. A family with younger children up to about 12 years old would be too busy for him as he may still panic and lash out. On the other hand he would love to be in a family with other dogs as he'd enjoy having a playmate or playmates.
Who will give our dear Korneel a chance and offer him, finally, a steady and warm new home? If you do you will have a big friend for life!
Why not come and visit us and meet Korneel and get to know him and see how he reacts, so you can assess the situation better.

The event will take place in the field of "The Mauricse Dog Racing Association" in Eck en Wiel.
It's a great day where adopters, volunteers, ex-students and the team from Spain will be present, including the founder Fabienne Paques and come together to celebrate.
On the day there will be various stalls offering different things for sale, for both dogs and owners. There will be workshops and of course there are also things to eat and drink for sale.
In short, it's going to be a fun day that you cannot miss as an adopter with your dog
Entrance fees are € 7.50 for adults and € 5.00 for children, dogs are of course free :-) You can sign up at pr.nederland@ace-charity.org for more information, stating the number of persons and dogs.
We hope to see you on Saturday, September 9th

Joana: a black cat with golden eyes and a golden character
Deep, deep black, with a character of gold...She was saved from a cat colony where she was probably dumped. She was pregnant, but gave birth to only stillborn kittens... she had been too heavily neglected to be able to give birth to healthy kittens.
When, that same day, we took in a box with newborn kittens without a mama we thought 'Shall we do it?' We were in doubt whether Joana was capable or not, but we were so desperate we decided to try and see if Joana would be able to take care of them.
And it was like a miracle, she accepted the kittens, with nothing but love and acted like she was their mama. It didn't seem to bother her that she was very weak, she wanted to save them...and she did. We gave some extra nutritional food and everything extra that could help her survive... She is a perfect mama.... She is black, but black animals are so beautiful!! When you take good care of them, they will shine like stars and will be so thankful being saved.
We have noticed over the years that black and white dogs and cats have a smaller chance of being adopted and that is a shame... because no matter your colour, it is the character that should count. And this black pearl had a golden character... a really good and lovely cat!!

Fabienne's Dog of the Day: Willa
Willa was tied up with a big chain at the entrance to a death station, she sat there and watched, not knowing what was going on, waiting to see what would happen to her. Around her throat she had the collar of an adult dog, to stop her from getting away. It's incomprehensible because Willa is a small, affectionate, good and sweet pup that really deserves better than being thrown away in this way. She's social and cuddly, just a good puppy with the most beautiful eyes, what a darling!
