Fabienne's Diary: An ode to all the oldies in our shelter on behalf of Granny Sadie

 Tuesday 29 December 2020

An old Podenco, a granny. She is old and gray, stiff in her legs and has cataracts in her eyes, and she was dumped like a piece of dirt ... in a killing station, no less, where thousands of four-legged friends die every year. Thousands of defenceless and innocent souls condemned to death. Because people who call themselves “owners” give up and dump them because they are a problem for them and so have to leave. Grandma Sadie is one of them. All her life she gave birth to puppies for her hunter. Now that she is old and can no longer be used, she was no longer usable. An old Podenco, she steals your heart with her sweet face and soft look, and her dignified little body that she has managed to hold out over the years of neglect. Today she longs for a life she has dreamed of for a lifetime. A HOME in the truest sense of the word, where a soft basket supports her, and the loving hands of people who love her pamper her until she is no longer there. Grandma Sadie is one of the many who would like to feel what happiness is. If only there were a few more people who could give an oldie that for a while. It is so good to see them shine in a home where love and respect have the upper hand, and where they can enjoy the last part of their life for a while ...
