They are so adorable, the dogs at El Refugio. They are so grateful, so eager for affection and I hope they will all soon have forever homes. I really wish I could take them all home with me.

It's such a joy to visit Fabienne and everyone at El Refugio. Alas, it's always too short and the time goes so fast. Every time it is different and every time it's fabulous. So many new dogs to meet and cuddle, spending time with Fabienne, Dirk, Diana and everyone. This time it was hot, hot, hot - around 40C and upwards. The day I arrived, up in Alhuin (I may have spelt this wrong) away from the coast the temperature was a staggering 53C.

More arrivals at Schiphol, July 15th

Another group of sweethearts who travelled to the airport with me. This time I too was leaving, though for the UK, so I couldn't escort them. But I will one day! Here are the photos of their arrival and the joy of both dogs and adopters.

This is Nisa, who from now on will be called Lily.

Podenco Marly Mia goes home like Puma has and there are still 2 more podenco's to meet!!

Eveline will be called Lientje. Lupe and Fe are at home waiting for her!

Arrival July 13

Unexpectedly there was an extra cage which was escorted by people who were flying home from Malaga with their own (ACE) dog. Naturally this was fine with the adoptive parents of Willow and Tamara, who were able to welcome their dogs much faster than they had expected.

Boxer puppy Willow was a bit uneasy when she came out of the cage. She did it all, but young as she is, she'll probably get used quickly in her beautiful new life. Two other dogs, one of which also of ACE, waited at home for her.

Small puppy Tamara is loving hugged close in the arms of her new mistress. She will be called Zayla.

Thank you for saving me ...

It's always such a pleasure to post the happy pictures of the dogs arriving and meeting their new families. In some cases, their adopters had travelled to Spain to meet them. This was the case with Jannette, who came to the Refugio to meet Kane and then acted as escort for him and the other dogs who travelled with them.

There's an extra thrill for me when I have met the dogs who now have their forever home. Sometimes, as now, I met them at the Refugio, travelled with them to the airport and waved them on their way.  Such was the case with Kane, Leyre and Champ. It's so good to see them out of their travelling cages and with their new families.
