Zina (11849) is now called Luna and she's safe now at home. Isn't that delicious.

Arrivals at Schipol on 30th June - more lucky dogs.

Gobo, Lida, Melon and Shua arrived at Schiphol tonight, escorted by Kim Ismay and two diehards who regularly fly up and down to Malaga to help ACE and to guide dogs to their golden baskets.

Another thank you to the adopters of Melon for bringing dog and cat food for the remaining dogs and cats in Spain !!

A happy ending for Legran

Three days after he arrived at Rotterdam airport, here is some great news of Legran, now Torrox.

It is going well with Legran, who is now Torrox. He has met and gets along with our Achilles and Rosa. Again we have made a good choice because he has chosen us!

Arrivals Rotterdam - 26th June -

Beautiful Legran (now Torox) did not want to come out of the cage, but after we got the top off he seemed to be thinking 'OK, I'll figure it out'. (Poor soul was unhappy when shut in the cage). 

Little Trunk now Hunk immediately had great fun with Rosi and both of them with their new owners.

Thanks too for the food that was brought for those left behind in the Refugio.

Bobbie - with us now for two years!

When we had to euthanize our dog of 16½ years in 2014, we wanted to have another dog from a Dutch sheter. We were busy looking at the various sites when we suddenly came across A.C.E. We had never heard of this organisation, but still we went to look at the site. How many dogs there were, all of whom had as much right to a good home, so we immediately decided to adopt a A.C.E. dog. It was very difficult to choose, but in the end we opted for Bobby (8699). Bobbie was rescued from the death station by Ankie van Vught; she was an intern at A.C.E. 

On June 27, 2014, Bobbie arrived at the airport and he was scared. When he was taken out of his bench he crawled right away under a row of chairs. After he was again brought out, he lay down on his back and was afraid to walk again. So then we carried him to the car. When we arrived home we let him loose and from then he began to settle down. 

Bobbie remains afraid of thunder and loud noises; then he immediately disappeared under the bed. Nevertheless, he is a happy, very sweet dog who loves anything edible (even outdoors). He knows when it's dinner time and coffee time. He won't give you any peace and you can't sit quietly. To other people, especially to children, he is very sweet, especially if someone has a bag of treats for him.

We are very happy with Bobbie and really couldn't be without him.

Senna (Cristi) - energetic, laid back and part of the family

Senna loves to play, especially with his ball.

Senna (5) is a beautiful cross robably of a small Podencos and a Labrador. Four months ago he landed at Zestienhoven. He had spent eight months at ACE, after he was rescued as a stray dog. Incredible, because this rascal is just a lovely, relaxed family dog.

What energy!

Soon Senna had completely adjusted to the rhythm of our family, with our two children (8 and 12) besotted with him. And we have adjusted to Senna's rythm too, because he is a dog with enormous energy, just as much as our 8-year old daughter has anyway. He loves balls, as is already evidenced in the movie of our ACE contact. You can not throw his balls often enough. He brings them back cheerfully right up to your feet and runs away again for the next. He also entertains himself with his half-broken footbal. As if he were a rugby player, he runs zigzagging through the garden, growling at each flowerpot that wants to take his ball ... A month ago it was complete enjoyment. On the beach at Texel, he ran himself ragged. He may have regretted it a bit next day - maybe his musceles were a bit sore. But he enjoyed it!

Relaxed

Lying on his rug in the middle of the living room he feels he is really a member of the family. And he is. Senna likes to do his best, is fine with children, strangers and when he is alone. Only when he's on the lead he reacts when there are other dogs. He doesn't react very aggressively, but still ...!So now we are tryng BAT training to sort that out. This requires an awful lot of time and practice in diffferent situations with other dogs, so we are also mixing in a little of the Cesar Milan method. Eventually it should be fine with Senna, because he is quite a sociable dog. Every week he goes to his carer. A retired dog lover with a generous American Stafford that has recently got six puppies, so it's a great atmosphere there. Senna thinks it's fine and goes his own way. He does not bark much, but when we come to pick him up, he can not resist.

All in all we have a lovely laid back dog that, fortunately, has suffered no visible trauma from his past.
