With pain in our hearts we had to say goodbye to Ruth on Thursday 27 August.
We've seen her blossom and have been lucky enough to have her with us for nine years. She has fought hard against cancer. We miss her and will cherish her memory.

Last year I was able to do an internship at ACE shin for a short period. This was a fantastic experience.
During my internship there I got to know a treasure of a dog. Officially her name is Khaleesi, only I called her Lizzy. Lizzy and I already had a special bond in Spain.
Adopting Lizzy is really the best thing I have ever been able to do. She is sweet, stubborn and very curious. She is always happy when I come home and we can cuddle on the couch.
I am very happy with her and we are going to make beautiful memories together.

Fabienne's dog of the week: Dilaila.
Monday, August 31, 2020
This beautiful, tall lady has been waiting at home for more than a year. Dilaila is a social sweetheart who likes to come and get a hug from her caretakers. She is looking for a house with a spacious garden where she can move around. Who gives this lovely cuddly toy a nice warm home?

Fabienne's diary: The story of Cartouche, the beautiful Siamese.
Sunday, August 30, 2020
She was imprisoned in a small village in the interior of Spain, where she ended up in a shelter where she was surrounded with all love but Cartouche never became a tame cat. Once we had arrived at our place we did our best to socialise her and it is going a lot better but she is and will remain a shy cat. She likes to be with you but does not want to be touched, maybe this will change, but that will take time and patience. On the other hand, she is not a cat to let go and give herself her future in her hands, because she can no longer live in the wild.
That is why we are looking for people with a farm or a large garden "on the outside", where she can still lead a free life, where she is cared for and fed, and where she can be free and happy. She is neither a savage nor a tame cat, she is in between, but we still want to give her a home somewhere, with people who can live and deal with these characteristics. We hope to be able to save Cartouche in this way.
Details for Cartouche don't seem to be available in English. However, if you click her name you will find the details in Dutch and it's easy enough to see her age and basic details and some photos. There is also a video on the Dutch Blog.

Vainilla (now Luna) has come home
She now accepts soft toys and loves my slippers.
When out for a walk, everything goes well, she's improving at the sight of cats and she barks at certain dogs, especially small dogs, she probably takes them for rabbits.
She is perfect with children.
In terms of her diet, we decided to give her kibble in the morning, she manages this well, she no longer gobbles. In the evening, an average portion of chicken, turkey, rabbit, fish, carrots, green beans, zucchini. Everything has been calculated by our veterinarian. Since then, she no longer demands food. And of course from time to time she gets treats and bone marrow. It suits her perfectly.
We are going to start dog training to improve her socialisation. We are excited.
Without a doubt, she brings life to our house, she gives us so much affection.
Have a nice Sunday!!
Our Croquetje already feels at home in foster care .... and so she'll be able to go home even sooner!!

Message from sad adoptive: "Tomorrow night (Friday) at 7 pm we have to make one of the most difficult decisions. We have to let you go at the age of 11, certainly not an easy decision. But we have to think about you. The last 2 years it went up and down. You started to struggle with a chronic inflammation of your ear, and you also had 2 brain attacks. Because you fought, you got well again.
When you came to us about 8 years ago I never thought we would become close friends. Your daddy was your best friend, and I was a side issue. Until 6 years ago I got sick myself at home, and we were together every day. I talked to you, and you always answered me in a nice, special way . How I have grown to love you ... With your real boxer character we had to laugh with you so much. The children could always cuddle you. You loved walking, and playing with the ball at home was your favourite activity.
But now you can't get up alone anymore, we have to help you walk, because you can no longer walk on your back legs. You don't want to eat or drink anymore. You indicate yourself that it was good. We hope we have given you a good 2nd life. We love to see you, but within a few days you will be back home. We are going to miss your snoring. Your little brother chocolate will certainly miss you too. You're good friend .... "

An update about Tino (ACE Valentino).
Saturday, August 29, 2020
Tino has been living with us and his big brother Doedels for a year and a half. Tino is a very cheerful and sweet dog! We enjoy him every day! Despite the fact that he does not use his fourth leg when walking, he walks a bit every day. Last year we were able to count his ribs, now we have to make sure he doesn't get too fat ... 😉l
Kind regards from Eijsden, Chantal

Gimiliana: don't let her grow old with us
Beautiful Gimiliana was saved from a truly horrible killing station (not that they aren't all terrible, but there are degrees, even so.) She is a cross but has some Sharpei traits, both in appearance and in character. Very quirky, but very affectionate and loyal towards her owner! She is rather reserved towards strangers, but once she knows you, she'll go through fire for you! She can be very possessive about her food bowl, so we wouldn’t advice to place her with children. She is social with other dogs, but does not like too busy types. Gimiliana is a calm dog, but does need experienced dog owners. She doesn’t like being forced to do something, but if you respect her and give her her space, can you do anything with her!
Gimiliana is eight and has been with us for three years. We want her to become an oldie in her own loving home, not in our shelter, much as we love her. She deserves the very best. For more information please click on her name, under her photo.
Born in the wild
Friday, August 28, 2020
Thousands and thousands of feral kitties starve, are driven to their death or die of deprivation. Wild births and wild births, and then even more. We do a thousand sterilisations and castrations per year for these colonies, we are working hard on this. Only yesterday our vet Wayne did 18 in one day including 11 pregnant cats. At 11 pm yesterday evening he was still operating. We are not giving up but with the Corona now it is all very difficult, it all has to be paid for.
We take in kittens from colonies that seem to be tame and then find them happiness in a family. Who would like to help support us with a sterilisation or castration. We have fewer and fewer resources and it is getting heavier. Every life counts ... we only sterilize colonies where we know there are regular checks, both medical and nutritional - making sure that someone brings food daily and provides fresh water.

Camino, the road was long but worth it ...
Friday, August 28, 2020
Camino, she was wandering around looking for some food to survive. With a lot of effort we managed to trap her in a cage. And now look, she is enjoying her nice home to the fullest, and is learning that people can also give a lot of love. A new world opens up for her
Camino also has her own instagram account: caminolittlepodenco

Maddy, now Flo.
Friday, August 28, 2020
She had to wait more than 2 years for a nice home. Was it because she has leishmania? Or because bodegueritos are not that popular, which is actually incomprehensible? Her boss says: "I want to thank you again for the dream dog we have obtained through you! Our Flo is a real sweetheart: needs a lot of love, likes to walk outside, is clean and everyone is her friend.
We had never dreamed that we could find such a good well-bred dog from a shelter. It is actually unbelievable that this good dog has been with you in the shelter for 3 years, and this just because of her leishmania, which actually doesn't bother her. A dog from a shelter is a real windfall !!!!
Thankx, thankx, thankx "

In memoriam Ika (ACE Louise)

Message from sad adoptive: "We had to put our doggy Ika (with you, Louise) to sleep. We were able to enjoy her loyal company for 5 years and 3 months. After a short but fierce battle with a liver tumor with metastases to the lungs, she had in the last few days little quality of life. She had a princess life with us all those years. "

Fabienne's Diary: Croquetje, at home for 8 years and then it was over ...
Thursday, August 27, 2020
Croquetje was the dog of a couple in an ordinary street. A dog that lived in a house with a garden for 8 years, but had never gone out with her owner, had never gone for a walk nor had ever seen an ordinary street. For 8 years she was the silent witness of joy and sorrow, of good and bad times lived by the couple.
Yesterday I was allowed to go and get her, the sweetest, most good dog who did not understand what was happening to her. She had never driven in a car before, had never seen a view other than the closed garden with 2 meter high walls. Her owner said: “Look now, she's in it it's as if she's always ridden in a car”, while the poor dog was drooling with fear and looking at her for reassurance ...
We drove away and now have her with us. The poor thing has ended up in a totally new world. We are all concerned about our little Croquetje. We must make sure that such a sweetheart will be very happy somewhere, where she can go for a walk and enjoy her life.
For more information about Croquetje, please click on her name.
