Fabienne's Diary: Milo and Tobbe at the specialist.

 Sunday, May 2, 2021

This week came the day, Milo and Tobbe went for a check-up with the traumatologist. Tobbe had his last check-up before his operation, during which there was a thorough discussion, together with his foster mom, about what needs to be paid attention to during his rehabilitation, what he can and cannot do and what we should do in the meantime.

Tobbe went into foster care on Friday, so that he can already get used to his new routine, his new environment, and his new friends. Within this and 3 weeks the definitive date will be set for his operation, followed by a rehabilitation period in which Tobbe will not be allowed to move a lot, only short walks on a leash several times a day, until he has recovered sufficiently.

And then it was our Milo's turn. Thanks to all of you, we were able to save the amount for a scan, for which we cannot thank you enough!

The result of the scan, and the conclusion of the traumatologist, was a hard one to deal with. Our suspicions were confirmed. Milo was hit on the head so hard that he suffered brain damage. To the extent that no surgery is possible. They could not give a conclusive answer regarding the prognosis, it is difficult to predict how this will evolve. Fortunately, one of the volunteers in Algeciras has taken Milo under her wing, every day she is faithfully at her post to work with Milo, using behavioural therapy, which he certainly seems to benefit from. This brings him stability, and helps to rebuild his trust in people. The specialist is of the opinion that this should certainly be continued in order to offer him a future, however uncertain it may be.

The story continues. Paky contacted the man who brought Milo in, who we always suspected was the culprit, but we never had any evidence against him. A heated discussion ensued, the threats flew. He blamed her for assaulting him, and not he her ... The last word has not yet been written about this, we will continue with this!
