Unfortunately I have a terrible message about Marie, our dog (her first name was Floortje) that we adopted at the ACE foundation.
To our great sorrow, she was involved in an accident, during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday.
Marie always became wild and enthusiastic about buses and large cars. She always loved to see them.
I walked her normal route (always on a leash). I walked along the bus lane that was fenced as far as the stop. A bus came at a brisk speed, because of the late time no people were at the stop and the bus drove on. The moment I noticed the bus I tried to pull her towards me but in a split second Marie jumped towards the bus and was caught by the rear wheels. The bus drove on and I was left with the belt in my hand. There was nothing I could do. Marie died instantly. We are in shock and traumatized. Fortunately, we were supported by local residents and the police quickly arrived. They secured the scene of the accident with motorcycles and stayed with her until the animal ambulance was on site to secure her body.
Fortunately, we get a lot of support from friends and family. Even from strangers in the area who have all seen Marie walking (with her 3 legs she was a striking appearance).
Marie enjoyed every minute of her life and was always happy. It is very boring without her in the house. But the thought that she will be missed by many people comforts us a little.
Marie will probably be cremated individually on Monday July 20. Then we can collect her ashes so we can bring her home in a dignified way for the last time.
We would like to let you know.
Sincerely,
Steven
Here are a few photos, of which Marie's photo on the pillow typified her the most. Always naughty and proud of what she had done. We are going to miss her so much.
