Rory: you love them, but you want to see them go ...

Beautiful, shy, gentle Rory

Because of various things, and especially now the wretched lockdowns, it's nearly two years since I was able to come to the Refugio. It's the greatest sadness. It is both wonderful and rather upsetting to see the daily life of the Refugio, knowing I can't be there. It is heartwarming to be able to see some of our dear ones travel to their forever homes, at last. That's what we wish for all of them. Because we love them, we want to let them go to a new happier life.

And yet. There are some who seem to 'stick' for whatever reason. Rory is one of them. On my last visit in September 2018 she was one of the dogs in the office area. Near the front and not in a cage in the daytime. She was beautiful, gentle and so very scared. Looking at the latest video on her page it looks as if she has made some progress, even though she is still wary. She will take a treat from Victor and she runs happily with the other dogs; when I was there she mostly cowered away under the table or the chairs. Rory came in with her pups together with another mama, Lorelai. These two quiet dogs supported each other and happily looked after each other's puppies.

Rory will need a patient owner, someone who will give her time to come out of her shell. If you contact the Refugio you will be able to find out more about her progress and her needs. Who would like to give this gorgeous soul all the love she deserves.
