Fabienne's diary: Maestro and Picolina's Christmas story ... Who can help?

Monday, December 21, 2020 This is the different story of Maestro and Picolina, this time at the request of their foster mum ... Our Picolina and Maestro, the Mastin on 3 legs, were inseparable in our Refugio and could not live without each other. It was heartwarming to see how a giant on three legs took care of a very scared and untouchable Podenco. Many times people wanted to adopt the great, good giant and good soul Maestro, but that little Podenco, he was often too much for them, nobody wanted him. And because we thought we could not separate them, we held our ground. Until they were both able to be taken in by a fostermama. Once together in a house with other dogs they both began to relax, both got to know a house and a garden, had children and people to visit. It all went well, both Maestro and Picolina were grateful and happy, but Picolina is and remains very afraid of people, you can not touch her. She remains attached to Maestro, but she also finds the other dogs quite pleasant and she likes them too. The foster mom tries everything to make her people-oriented, but it is very difficult. For Maestro on the other hand, a whole world opened up, he enjoys the cuddly toys, the garden and the family, and Picolina continues to see him as her great support. But sometimes Maestro prefers to be alone, to be at ease, to be free. He is a Mastin as a Mastin should be. He guards his home and garden, and his family with all his heart and full conviction. He does not need a long walk, a large garden is enough for him with his three legs. As you know, one leg was amputated after he was brought to us badly damaged.

Maestro would be happy with people with a large garden, who do not walk much but who would like a sweetheart and a watchman in the house. And who, if possible, would also like to take our Picolina into their hearts. Picolina can now also be adopted without Maestro, but by people who have other dogs. She needs another dog to pull herself up to, to find support and refuge. Both are house trained in their foster family. Our dream is to have them adopted together but it is very difficult. We get a little distraught. It would be our ultimate dream, and for Picolina a heaven, to be able to stay with her best friend. With this story we want to try again to get them home. Maybe someone will stand up for them and want to bring them home before Christmas, who knows, there are still wonders in the world. At the same time we also want to call on your help. We are looking for a behavioral therapist or someone who can give good advice on how we can tackle this story, together with the foster mom. We would like to see them happy, but the foster mom is at a loss with Picolina, who is extremely scared. Is there someone who can help? Picolina and Maestro, a different story…
