In Memoriam NINO

Today Nino suddenly passed away. Nino came to us on April 21, 2014, after a rough period for him. He had to leave his adopters, he would have bitten there and there was also a nasty incident at his shelter. So a dog came to us who was stressed. We did, however, take this into account in the beginning, because we wanted to be sure there were no other unpleasant events.

Nino came to rest with us and that was good for him. His teeth were very dirty and we had that sorted out, maybe he was in pain. Two years ago he got a tumor on his hind leg and this has become a very major operation with a recovery period of 3 months, but that also turned out well.

At the beginning of September, Nino suddenly had a fever of over 41 degrees, we gave him antibiotics, but the fever would subside for a few hours and then return. The vets tried different drugs, but this didn't give the right result. Until one of the vets said we will try prednisolone, dogs often respond well to that. And indeed, that was successful. 

Nino has had a great and good time since he got the prednisolone, which was reduced to low doses. Fever stayed away and his food tasted fine. But today it suddenly went completely wrong with him, nothing was possible anymore. Nino was a dog of the ACE and turned 14 years old. Adopted a dog as a puppy and yet had such a fierce life. For us and in the pack, Nino has always been a very nice dog. Goodbye dear Nino. His bosses Sonja and Marjolein!
