Fabienne's diary: And then little Goliath piled in ....

Sunday 22nd October, 2020

He was rescued from the killing station. A skinny dog weighing scarcely 2 kg, so skinny and miserable that his eyes drowned in his eye sockets.

First he went to a foster family where he didn't get on with Lolo. The morning he came to us we looked into the sad eyes of Doobie Doo'tje - oh and that dog, so skinny, so sad. He welcomed his bowl and the fell asleep on your arm. Oh the poor bolleke!

However, we soon discovered that the small Doobie Doo'tje, weighing barely 2 kg, was not worthy of his name. Because when our large Gusavo, weighing around 80 kg, came close to his food he shot off his starting blocks without hesitation. And he drew himself up like a mighty gladiator and flew towards Gustavo's hairy throat. Fortunately our Gustavo is a good soul and he shook off the attacking little Goliath and just did not go for him. After which Goliath, without hesitation, started the attack again!

In your arms he is the happiest dog. He is social until there is food around. He coughs, he is thin, he has been dumped. Why? The first day he claimed our dining room in all it's glory - he sprayed everywhere. Fortunately that part is now over. He has delusions of grandeur, does not give in to anyone - on the contrary. At the moment the large family has to make way for the 2 kg Goliath, who has chosen Celientje as his girlfriend. He is almost three times smaller than our Celientje, but presumes to lord it over her, to the chagrin of our princess.

In the evening, Goliath crawls up against you for as short a time as possible and sleeps unmoving until the morning. And then his - now a bit more clever - eyes open and hola! Here he comes again. The tough men in our family let out a deep sight and think " her comes the bug again"...

This is why our little Goliath should be a one-on-one dog that can go anywhere in a princely carrier, close to his owner. He is indescribably loyal, docile, calm, good, a sweetheart - thinking he is the greatest Goliath of all time. With other dogs and kittens he is like that, but it's quite complicated with his megalomania complex.

Now with the right owner .... we are waiting for that and in the meantime we watch and keep together as a large family. He is who he is but is already loved. We want the very best for tis small, no, large Goliath. We are convinced that he was beaten because a slightly raised voice alone makes him bow humbly.

Who can give him heaven? Dirk has also given the little Goliath the nickname Doberman. With people he is kindness itself. His backside shakes in such a way that you think it will come off, he does not have a tail. Even that was taken from him, poor little wretch.

And that's our little Goliath ...
