Diary of Fabienne: Alicia, one of the many victims of the Corona crisis, ...

 Friday, October 2, 2020

Alicia was rescued by a vet who was forced to move to other places due to the poor working conditions here in Spain. She left her three dogs with a friend, temporarily, or so it was agreed, because she would bring them all over to join her later . Unfortunately the phone calls from March to date were very sparse, and that was all the friend heard from her. Until last week when she was told that the vet's life had taken such a turn that the dogs were no longer welcome in her life and that she should get rid of them.

Their “temporary” owners also called me, because they wanted to prevent the dogs from ending up in the killing station. In the end, the girlfriend was standing in front of the gate with Alicia only; she would keep the other two in her tiny apartment herself. Alicia stood next to her and her son, they were in tears. She was so sorry for Alicia but there was no room for her. The son was clearly at the bottom of it.

As they left, Alicia watched her foster family with wide, disbelieving eyes. She whimpered, and waited for hours at the gate, thinking this must be a big mistake. But it was getting dark and the night came, no matter how deep her grief and uncertainty was. We could not help her, a dog like many others, but her world must be saved . A terrified animal, that has been through a lot and has become emaciated by sorrow and misunderstanding.

Alicia loves children and is super social, a sweetheart of the highest order who, like many others, became a victim of this demanding corona crisis. Alicia who will take her into their heart?

To see some some video/photos of dear Alicia, please click on her name. She doesn't appear to be on the website yet but if you would love to help this dear animal, please contact ACE via the website.
