Do you remember Bes .....?

... he is finally HOME

Bes is the cuddly Chow Chow who was born at a breeders in Gibralter and then bought by a Spanish family for their son. When the cuddly little bear became a bigger bear they had enough and gave them to a friend in Cadiz, who also wanted to breed from him. But that wasn't working any more so the 'friend' dumped poor Bes in a killing station. We rescued him - he was sick and weak and thin. Unfortunately he was still registered to his original owner in Gibralter.

When we asked the killing station to contact the original owner so we could register Bes in our name ... the owner decided he wanted Bes back. It broke our hearts. We pleaded and begged but the law is the law and we were obliged to give poor Bes back. When the owner turned up to fetch him it seemed he was going to give him to another 'friend'. We advised against it but he was adamant. This was a good person who would care for Bes. So he was handed over - cured of his fleas, his skin condition, with all his injections, neutered and healthy and clean. But ... when the new 'caring friend' realised he couldn't breed from him - back he went to the killing station, barely 5 km from the Refugio.

A few months later a phone call from a volunteer 'Fabienne, we have a Chow Chow in the killing station. Please could you come and save him?" Never in a million years did Fabienne expect to see what greeted her at the killing station. It was Chow Chow! Unbelievable. Despite his treatment, the sweet dog was really happy to see her and recognised her straight away.

Chow Chows are special, sensitive dogs and need the right owner. And now .... a most marvellous happy ending. BES IS HOME. This time with a loving forever family and for good! With heartfelt thanks to them for finally giving Bes a happy ending.
