You don't see them much anymore, Dobermans. People who know the breed stay with them, all their lives. We took some of them out of the killing station, including our Saulo. When we saw him, we already knew that he must come with us. He sat there in his corner like a frightened reed. He peed and pooped with fear when the glass eyes simply just passed the icy dull cages. You can imagine what they do with these defenseless animals when we are not there to be with them.
Saulo was a given up dog, but since he came to us, the behavioral therapist started working with him, completely free of charge, and we see him gradually change. Slowly but surely he is becoming a beautiful dog. He will never be a ready-made dog when he comes to his new owners, but he will love you and that unconditionally. He will always be an insecure sweetheart unless you keep going to school, like he does now, where he receives guidance. Who knows, he will be fine, but you cannot give certainty about this.
He deserves an owner with patience, who knows what he is getting into, he is a good and good soul but has a backpack of fear that has to be emptied slowly. Who gives him that chance?
