Fabienne's diary: some never get to have a home in their lifetime ...

Boy George, a household name in our refugio, is no longer ...

He came into the world to be happy, but ended up in a true hell. Somewhere in Seville, somewhere where his grief, and that of Mike and Ivy, was never heard. Their pain never heard, their despair, their cry for help. No justice, which could have been realised with just a few words. Letting them go to a home where someone truly loved them.

Instead hey were kept in a deserted area where they had to live in their own dirt, the images speak for themselves. When we took them in they were all in very bad shape. Neither he, nor Mike, nor Ivy,  ever felt a soft bed under his old worn out bones. They had never seen a fresh bowl of water, stale bread or no food was the daily menu.

Boy George stole everyone's heart. Ivy didn't move a meter from his side all her life, where Boy George was,  Ivy was.  But today it didn't work anymore, he was used up. The vet couldn't do anything for him anymore. We had to let him go.

Our entire team went to say goodbye, one by one, hugging his head, with Ivy sitting next to him. His big body, his soft character, his beautiful loyal eyes, are no more . The worst thing is that he never knew what a home is, what it is when owners love you and spoil you. He was never able to know this, and that alone touches a person in his deepest. So many people wanted to make him happy, but he could no longer travel because of his weak heart and his painful constitution, his bones could no longer be repaired due to the heavy neglect.

In the name of this sweet giant we thank everyone, all volunteers and everyone who loved him, who would have liked to see him happy.

Dear Boy George, ...

For our entire Refugio you were more than what you thought you were, we loved you and we pampered you as best as we could. Our vet assisted you as much as possible with medical help. You were pampered and liked, but a Refugio is never a home, and we would have liked you to have had that, so much ...

Sleep well dear bear ... You will be forever in our minds and we will never forget you. We will take good care of your girlfriend Ivy, we promise you that, and hope she will be able to come home.

Goodbye dear, forever in our hearts.
