Violeta - Update

Violetta in Belgium.

Violeta is in foster care in Belgium. Her foster mother has written to tell us how she's getting on. She says ....

"Some dogs steal your heart, not with their beauty and elegance, but just by who they are. Violeta is one of them.

An underdog, a nondescript golden heart, a sugar-sweet personality. Languishing in the hustle and bustle of the Refugio, no one saw her because she was cowering in a basket in a dark corner, afraid of other dogs with very little faith in people.

And so I took her to Belgium.

Now she is in our family, and is beginning to blossom, opening gradually like a beautiful flower, so gentle and terribly grateful for the opportunity she's been given. Her sad eyes sparkle when we speak to her and when we reward her for being the super dog she is. Her tail wags gently and she relaxes.  She enjoys human attention and, even though she was so afraid of her kind in the shelter, she has confidence in our other dog. They play and fool around, run and roll in the grass and in the field. He gives her a boost, showing her what it's like to be a dog.

We have small children and Violetta is perfect with them. She is so soft and sweet; a kind word or a hug her make her really happy and she perks up, so beautiful to see. She is completely housebroken and sleeps in a crate. She is a very sensitive dog; she reacts immediately to a change in your tone of voice. Violeta is a gem, a beautiful dog without a shred of aggression. Anyone who meets her is guaranteed to lose their heart to her."

Update Violeta, 08-05-2014 - more news from her foster mother ...

"Violeta is doing very well. She is still quite timid but if you call her softly, she'll come to be hugged. In a bench she feels completely safe and well, even though the door is open, it remains locked within.
Violeta is overjoyed and opens up completely when we go walking. Every day she gets her long walk and can run around freely in the pastures here ... we enjoy this treasure to the fullest! Her hunting instinct will sometimes kick in, but when I call her she comes straight away. She listens well.
Violeta is a really great dog!"
