The Spanish Galgo is one of the dog breeds in Spain that is most affected by humans. Galgos have been hunted for centuries, almost everyone in the countryside was "galguero", and unfortunately there are still many "galgueros". The poor dogs have to undergo all kinds of abuse before the hunting season starts ... harsh training, starving for months during the hunting season, appalling living conditions, having to run until exhausted. And then… when the hunting season is over and the Galgo no longer "serves" or has tarnished the "honor" of the hunter, the worst follows: discarded as a throwaway or worse, killed, sometimes preceded by a long agony. Every year tens of thousands of Galgos suffer this same dreadful fate.
World Galgo Day, February 1, marks the end of the hunting season and the start of the massive galgo dump.
A day on which we reflect on the massive dumping of these beautiful, sensitive animals, ... because they have no voice, we must be this for them !!
