Fabienne's diary - Luna's Story.

One of the kill stations in the area closed its doors and all the dogs present would be destroyed. They had to leave soon, so a big action was set up. As always we took some of the condemned. Just an hour after we arrived back at the Refugio the phone rang… 1 dog was left behind, nobody wanted to save her. Who was that dog? Oh well, bring her to us, we can't let her stay there.  Then Luna came to us. One ear was up, the other hangs down, big and skinny, with a dull coat and whatever else. Her eyes looked very sad, it was clear that she had suffered enormously.  Luckily her life was not over yet. She is a gentle, good lady, still looks very sad and does not know what is going on with her life, This great sweetheart has never known love, never received friendship. She as begun to turn the corner and she likes it. She likes it a lot. Slowly but surely she can leave the past behind,…

Meanwhile Luna is still in our kennels, she is still scared and insecure, but she is a good soul. Almost three years now she has been with us, waiting to be able to come home somewhere. She is a project in herself. A project for people who have time and a garden, a family or an owner with whom she can become accustomed to her home, garden and environment at her own pace. Because Luna knows nothing at all, the world is a great revelation to her. Luna is a dog for someone who will get to know her very quietly, who will help her familiarise herself with this new world, someone with a lot of patience and love, someone who knows that she is a big project.
