Aruba has been here for 1 month now. We knew she was going to be a scared dog, but we didn't expect that she'd be that scared.
As soon as we got home she looked for a safe place between the cupboard and a wall, so that she couldn't see us and we couldn't see her. She didn't eat or drink those first days either. She is now defrosting very slowly, also by the other dog in the house, which gives her an example and she becomes more confident step by step.
She eats, but then no one can be around. She also reacts to the word “pipi” and then comes to the door to run outside as quickly as possible. She isn't completely housebroken yet, but if she does go inside it will be on on a puppy training blanket by the back door.
The last week she even comes to lie in her basket when I quietly watch TV, and quietly her playfulness also appears. She sometimes likes to dig in the garden, but like all our Spaniards she also likes to enjoy the sun. She is afraid of small children and will growl and run away.
