Fabienne's Diary: Report of our rescue.

It was a special day yesterday. We left at 6 am towards Badajoz to rescue as many dogs as possible from different places. We have reached the second place, the most necessary ...

A killing station that has existed for years, and was maintained by the municipality and some volunteers who made sure that no dogs were put to sleep. A big appeal was made after the municipality decided to close the installations, because they were old, dirty, inhumane to look at. In response to this call, all the little dogs and the easy dogs were immediately picked up by others. When we arrived we looked into the eyes of a large number of Mastins, Galgoots, all of them large dogs and here and there hurt. The Galgos especially were injured.

All these dogs would be killed within a month because the installations are closed.  So ... we took them ALL with us. Our big bus and my van were packed to the brim.  Nothing more could be added, so we could no longer make it to the third place. That is for later.

The Mastins are big, but so noble and grateful to have been saved. Some of them have been there for years ?? Not one to look at them.  There are some old ones who look terrible and their fur is simply in horrible condition. We are going to try to wash away the past, clean it and comb it well, will become a work, ...

We drove home very late to unload until 3am, thanks to our super team !! Broken and tired, but so happy that at least everyone is saved there. We now just have to get a couple of Mastins, their story will follow. They had just been brought in and were impossible to take at the moment.

When we drove home we were almost the only ones on the road.  It was getting very late and the curfew started at 10 pm, then we were alone, ... That does something to a person, ... It makes you think about the world we live in… But now the journey to their new life begins for these four-legged friends… They are all lives that count !!

It was another day… But definitely worth it !!
