Fabienne's diary: Abel, after being in the killing station truck, we're glad he's with us ...
Monday 7 December 2020
Abel came to us in a very special way. A good thing, because otherwise he would not have been there for a long time.
We take in a lot of dogs who are on the death row, you all know that. Our sick, neglected, abandoned Abel also came to us from a terrible killing station, ...
Every week some dogs come to us from that killing station. That day we had been promised a Labrador of 1 year and a registered Pitbull of 1 year, both very beautiful dogs. When we were asked when we could pick them up, we got the answer that the workman would bring them from there, exceptionally. How strange !? Bring?
A few hours later the "killing station van" arrived. But instead of the two dogs we had been promised, a stumbling, severely neglected black dog appeared. His eyes were glued shut with pus, he could barely stand on his feet, he had no energy, or desire to continue. He let it all wash over him.
Of course we took him in, but when we asked where the other two dogs had gone, we got the answer that they had gone to adopters they had chosen, because they were beautiful dogs, and nobody wanted him. No further comment. But that's how this very sweet dog, our Abel, came to us.
He cannot tell us what he has been through, but his body, eyes and condition tell us everything. And we are now going to take care of him. He is now in the clinic and is receiving the necessary care.
