Fabienne's Diary: Izzy, finally released from the killing station after three years ...
Sunday 22 November 2020
It was a tough day, the day we took 38 dogs from the killing station. We talked to the people who work there, and I asked them “Who is the dog that has been there the longest?” Normally the dogs are put to sleep when they are full, or after 10 days when they are legally allowed to do so, but some dogs are lucky in one way or another - if you can call it that - and stay alive. Often because of their character or the special bond they have with one of the caretakers there.
That's how it was with Izzy. She came in as a little girl and had been there for almost 3 years now. Because of her soft and good character, they could not bear to put her to sleep, and so she stayed alive. The circumstances in which she had to live were difficult to recount but that day Izzy went with us.
Izzy may not be a beauty, and her hair has never been groomed. She is a bit timid at first, then moves on to a deep, modest, but pure friendship! A beauty inside that's plain to see, such a sweet little creature. She is now with us and we want to do everything we can to finally see her shine next to a loving owner.
