UNSAFE "SAFETY DEVICES"

 Friday 2 October 2020

Almost every day we see adopted or fearful dogs that are missing.

Often this is  because they wear a normal harness or collar, that allows them to go missing, get injured and sometimes even be found dead.

Loud noises, being approached by stray dogs or strange people, taking your dog to busy places, the dog wanting to run after a cat or cyclist  - these are just a few of the reasons that cause your dog to escape from its regular harness or collar. Two seconds and he is gone ...

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO PREVENT YOUR DOG ESCAPING?

Buy solid and safe equipment. Choose the right products, in case of lack of knowledge, inform yourself and do research.

Most harnesses sold in a regular pet store do not meet the anti-escape requirement.

* Choose a good three-point harness in the right size

* Double leash

* Tie the dog to yourself, using a lap belt or loop around the wrist,

* Use of a GPS tracker is an advantage!

If you think ′ ′ My dog doesn't escape, or he or she is wearing a good harness. Or I don't need double leash? My dog doesn't ..... " Then look at the video** and the pages of lost dog organisations and their search teams.

Oh yes, and now that we are drawing attention to safety: Do not use a flex line, but a fixed line!

The box of a flexi line is hard. When this falls, it makes a very loud noise, which can cause a fearful dog to run.

Think what this does when the flexi-leash drags on the street behind the already scared dog!

Just picture it: the dog panics and tries to run away from the noise and keeps running, running, disregarding traffic. Please people prevent us from having to list your dog  on our page as missing and instead use the correct and safe equipment.
