Diary of Fabienne: Firulais became just a useless thing ...
Thursday 26 November 2020
Even though you have been doing rescue for more than 20 years, you never get used to it, you can never understand it. Many times have we witnessed how hunters keep their dogs here. On a chain of half a meter, and then only pregnant females on those chains, without defence and without value. If you bring it up, they are uncomprehending. It's the way it is, if you are old or no longer fertile, you will be thrown out like a piece of dirt. Even with a painful leg still thrown out, that's the correct wording, “Thrown”… And then you start wandering, you try to survive, the will to live is stronger than the pain or sorrow and misunderstanding. If you are lucky you will end up with us, or elsewhere where you'll get a chance, or you will die a lonely painful death. No person who will know about it, no person who has ever known you. . Our Firulais is such a Podenco. Her eyes say enough, her body is gray and used up, her behaviour very submissive and shivering in fear for what is to come. In a few weeks she will know that it is already different here, that she will be someone here and that she matters. And soon when she is able to find, will find, an owner, she will cherish heaven on earth, leaving her past behind.

Emelina
Thursday 26 November 2020
Emelina (right) was rescued from the killing station in July and was sent to foster care in Belgium in early November. She was adopted after 2 weeks; she found her golden basket. How the life of a Spanish dog can change completely in a few months. If only all the wretches ...
Fabienne's diary: Roni lost his leg in a fall ...
Wednesday 25 November 2020
Roni is a beautiful Romano, that's what they call these kinds of cats here. He had been “someone's” cat for several years. But when he got trapped with his paw, no one was worried about him anymore. It became quiet, nobody knew him anymore. That's how he ended up with us. An amputation cost money of course and no one was there for him. He was forgotten. His paw was amputated in the meantime and since then this sweet cat has been waiting for a good owner or family. Of course he can never climb and act crazy again as before, but has resigned himself to his fate. He remains a sweet and grateful, friendly cat who should have a quiet life in an apartment or indoors. Who can offer this sweetheart this? He is such a sweetheart !!
