Marco was given up in a killing station. He is a dog with a huge backpack who has been through a lot and has never known what it's like to be loved. In the killing station we were able to convince him with great care and effort to trust us after all. He is a soul that needs an owner who knows he has to come from far. He has to learn everything but above all gain confidence in people. He cringes in fear and uncertainty. He is social with other dogs but also very scared, we would not place him with small dogs. A project that requires a lot of patience.

Youri is Yara's son and Yuna's brother, he also dares to venture more than his sister and is often at the front of his loft to tempt you to give him some attention. It would also be nice for Youri to have another kitten present that he can romp with. He is a true black pearl.

Thanks to our volunteers Mark and Martyn, Andrea and Paul from Legends Bar La Cala, and with musical support from Dragtastic and Diverse Tribute Band, we received the beautiful sum of € 5550 at the end of the evening for the benefit of our dogs and kittens in the refuge!!

Fabienne's Diary: Akela and offspring ... a mother with hope ...

It was a hot Saturday when a woman knocked on the door and wanted to drop us off a mama with kittens. However, we are full to the top, and we don't know which foster family can handle any more. So we asked her to be patient. But we were not thanked for that because when we wanted to go home, the mother was standing with her kittens in a cardboard box in a glass box next to the field of the Refugio. With a thousandth luck, one of our people saw this and they were rescued in the nick of time. They were forced to be housed in an emergency cage, because no one could handle any more. Not just us, but the animals already there…

The following Monday, a Frenchwoman suddenly showed up at the door with two identical kittens. How strange. Found in her garden, so to speak, but with the message that it was the rest of the family of the mother with kittens. It must have been my neighbour, she said. When she was told, one after the other came "hm, uh,…", followed by endless excuses, after her weakly put together story. She denied of course that she had left those poor critters there in 40 degree heat,…

Anyway, to make a long story short: mother and children are doing well, are grateful, and happily far away from the hands of those who dumped them with all possible speed.

Tommy was rescued from the killing station after he was adopted as a puppy by a couple who unfortunately couldn't take care of the growing dog.  Little Tommy was waiting there, the chance that he would be put to sleep was great. A volunteer asked us to save him. It was not easy, but after negotiations we got him along.

Once with us we saw a very overgrown puppy who can be impetuous and mischievous, playful and sweet with everyone, but is big and strong. He is beautiful to look at, looks very much like a Labrador and has certainly the crazy pranks, but he's a big boy who needs a big yard and a good walk every day. An owner who teaches him manners and gives him guidelines is also very important.

We cuddle here to our heart's content with this big puppy who is now loved by all of us! Who will give this champ a good home? Young, crazy, friendly, still a lot to learn, but definitely a will to work on that !!

Take them by car, take them to the sea and beach, take them to the market and they also join us on a terrace. They did a great job with such enthusiasm and were so happy. You could see their eyes sparkle and they enjoy being able to belong again. Abuela is a sweetheart who still walks a lot, and greets everyone with the fullest kind. Bocu is just such a sweetheart who is social and quiet together a great cool dog! Very homely and people and animal oriented dogs!!

Volunteer Kathleen's umbrella campaign was a great success!

They are two invisible worlds, that have been with us for so long. First in another place where they were kept alive on a property, but where they were never noticed either. When we were there you could see the enormous longing in these two souls, hoping they could come along…

And they came along with us… But until now they have not been noticed by an owner here either… They are two older dogs that can be placed separately, as long as they can go to a soft, warm bed. Both are calm, good, social dogs, who are happy with a little attention and finally want to be able to feel, experience, experience ...

Today they were allowed to go to the sea with our volunteers for a day, and some sun, and then have some time on a terrace together, and that went with so much simplicity and gratitude.  In the car everything went very quietly and well, they travelled well and were so curious about where they were going…

They are grateful good souls, who so hope that someone will take them to heart and take care of them… Who will give these slightly older good gentlemen a nice old age?

Night falls...Everyone is home...

Caregivers, volunteers...

Dogs are in their cages... The intense barking and the cry for a hug for attention turns into pure loneliness and thoughts of how it used to be...

How boss took care of them and the kids pampered them.. How they played with their balls and always happy and happy to see their owners again...

How suddenly their lives changed abruptly...

One from a killing station...The other from a hunter or directly from a warm home...or....

Night falls....

Their thoughts are free...but their cage is closed and no one looks at them anymore until tomorrow morning when we are back together to make their lives bearable...

So many good and good dogs and kittens....Their gratitude beyond measure...Their friendship unconditionally...Adopt...

And that is all allowed here???
